Privacy by design. Dignity by default. No surveillance, no tracking, no extraction.

Our Philosophy 💚

Privacy is not a feature. It's a foundation. Takia is built on the principle that people deserve dignity, and dignity requires privacy.

We collect the minimum data needed to coordinate care. Nothing more.

What We Collect

🙋 Volunteers & Partners:

  • • Name and contact info (for coordination)
  • • Role and availability
  • • Task history (for reliability, not ranking)

🏠 Kitchens:

  • • Public: Neutral name, approximate location, capacity
  • • Private: Actual address, coordinator contacts (verified only)

🎫 Recipients:

  • • Anonymous tokens only (no names stored)
  • • Pickup times and locations
  • • Delivery exceptions (mobility, safety needs)

What We Don't Collect

  • 🚫Recipient names: Never stored in any database. Tokens only.
  • 🚫Tracking cookies: No third-party analytics or ad networks.
  • 🚫Browsing history: We don't track what you do outside Takia.
  • 🚫Social graphs: We don't map relationships or connections.
  • 🚫Behavioral profiles: No scoring, ranking, or profiling.

How We Use Data

Coordination:

Match surplus food with kitchens. Schedule pickups and deliveries. Send notifications.

Safety:

Verify kitchen legitimacy. Track food safety incidents. Protect volunteers.

Improvement:

Understand what works. Fix what doesn't. Always anonymized, never individual.

We never sell data. We never share it with advertisers. We never use it for profit.

Data Storage & Security

  • 🔒Encryption: Data encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
  • 🗄️Minimal retention: We delete data when it's no longer needed.
  • 🛡️Access control: Only verified coordinators see sensitive data.
  • 📋Audit logs: Who accessed what, when. Accountability without surveillance.
  • 🌍Local first: Data stays in your region when possible.

Your Rights

  • ✓Access: See what data we have about you.
  • ✓Export: Download your data in a readable format.
  • ✓Correct: Fix errors in your information.
  • ✓Delete: Request deletion. We comply within 30 days.
  • ✓Object: Opt out of any data use you disagree with.

Third Parties

We use minimal third-party services. Only what's necessary for infrastructure (hosting, email). Never for tracking or ads.

Any third party we use must meet our privacy standards. If they don't, we find alternatives.

Changes to Policy

We may update this policy as Takia evolves. We will notify you of changes and give you time to review.

If changes reduce your privacy, we will ask for your consent. If you disagree, you can leave with your data.
